grandsons, Valentín Eduardo,
Ricardo Stradel la and
Alejandro Ruben, rose to
positions of prominence
within the company. Today,
with the continued expertise
of their fathers, they are
the third generation to run
what is now called
Valentín Bianchi
S.A.
Valentín Bianchi
vineyards cover
over 716 acres
and are located
in San Rafael,
which is thought
to have the best
s o i l i n t h e
Mendoza region.
The vineyards are filled
w i t h r oo t s t o c k f r om
Valentín’s native Italy, in
addition to vines from
California and France.
Our selection is a classic
Cabernet with all the
resultant cherry, berry, earth
and licorice this grape can
produce in perfect soils. It
is easi ly one of the
best we’ve tr ied from
Argentina. A must with
an Argentinian barbeque
featuring lamb sausages
and an outside skirt steak
with chimichuri sauce.
n 1928, after a succes-
sion of entrepreneurial
enterpr ises, I tal ian
immigrant Valentín Bianchi
realized his dream of owning
a vineyard and small winery
in the Mendoza region of
Argentina. First known as
‘’El Chiche,’’ the winery
produced a fine red wine,
Super Medoc , after the
legendary area of great
clarets in Bordeaux, France.
A few years of struggle paid
off for Valentín
when, in 1934,
his wines were
awa r ded t he
Maximum Quality
P r i ze a t t he
O f f i c i a l Wi ne
Exh i b i t i on and
Contest, a national
event held in
Mendoza. It was
this same year
that fine wine
shops in Buenos Ai res
discovered his wines,
recommending them to
the Capi tol ’s weal thy
sophisticates.
In the early 1950s, when
Valent ín’s sons started
joining the now successful
enterprise, he changed the
name of the company to
Valent ín Bianchi SACIF,
reflecting that it was now a
family business. It was this
winery that he handed down
to his sons, Alcides Jose and
Enzo Arnaldo. Along with
their brother-in-law, Aurelio
Stradel la, they took a
